Sleeping on the summit of Huangshan was magical. We took the cable car up, hiked the granite ridges all afternoon, and woke before dawn to catch sunrise from the eastern viewpoint above the sea of clouds. Worth every step. Our private guide booked the summit hotel in advance which is essential.
The two-day overnight format is the only way to do Yellow Mountain properly. Hiking those ridge trails between the famous pines with our guide, then watching the sunrise paint the peaks orange - unforgettable UNESCO scenery. Pack warm, it's cold at the top even in summer.
Granite peaks, twisted pines, clouds drifting below your feet - Huangshan is otherworldly. Staying overnight on the summit meant we beat the day crowds to the sunrise spot. The private guide tailored the hiking distance to our fitness. A genuinely special two days.
