Driving the China side of the Karakoram Highway over five days was a dream road trip. Kashgar to Tashkurgan along the G314, with Karakul Lake and Muztagh Ata towering over everything. The Tajik villages were warm and welcoming. One of the world's great drives.
The KKH did not disappoint. Five days gave us time to stop constantly for the jaw-dropping Pamir scenery, Karakul Lake's mirror reflections of Muztagh Ata, and the area near Khunjerab. Private vehicle meant photo stops whenever we wanted. Epic.
Five days on the Karakoram Highway from Kashgar was the adventure I'd hoped for. The G314 climbs into surreal high-altitude landscapes. Karakul Lake and the Tajik villages were the highlights. Our guide handled the permits and altitude pacing brilliantly.
Spectacular high-altitude road trip. The views of Muztagh Ata and Karakul Lake are unforgettable, and the Tajik culture near Tashkurgan is fascinating. Five days means several long driving stretches, but the scenery never gets old. Comfortable private vehicle.
