6-Day Lhasa and Namtso Lake Adventure with Travel Permit

Six days with Lhasa first and then an overnight at Namtso Lake was perfectly judged. Acclimatising in Lhasa with the Potala Palace and Jokhang before heading up to 4,718m made the high-altitude lake bearable and breathtaking. Sleeping by Namtso with that turquoise water and the stars overhead was the most magical night of our China trip. Travel permit was all arranged.

Sacred Namtso Lake is even bluer in person. The overnight stay meant we caught both sunset and a freezing but glorious sunrise over the water. Two days in Lhasa beforehand at the monasteries helped us handle the altitude. Our guide carried oxygen just in case and checked on us constantly.

An adventure done responsibly. The contrast of Lhasa's spiritual sites with the raw wilderness of Namtso at nearly 4,720m was incredible. Staying the night by the lake is what made it, not just a quick photo stop. Permits and logistics were faultless.

Beautiful six days. Namtso Lake is otherworldly and worth the altitude effort. The night up there is cold so pack warm. Lhasa was a wonderful introduction to Tibet. Our private guide was attentive about acclimatisation and the travel permit was no hassle.
