Über diese Tour

This 14-day private China journey connects Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Zhangjiajie and Shanghai. It combines imperial landmarks, living neighbourhoods, giant pandas, dramatic mountain scenery and two of China’s most distinctive modern skylines.

The route below is a carefully planned starting point rather than a rigid group-tour schedule. Tell us your interests, preferred pace and travel style, and the sequence can be adjusted within the practical transport and availability limits of the journey.

Discover Imperial Beijing and the Great Wall

Begin at Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, then continue to the Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven for a broad view of imperial Beijing. A separate day takes you to Mutianyu, where restored watchtowers follow the mountain ridges and you can walk at a comfortable pace. The Beijing programme also includes the Olympic Park and an included roast duck dinner.

Uncover the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an

Travel from Beijing to Xi’an by high-speed train and explore one of China’s most important archaeological sites. Visit Pits 1, 2 and 3 of the Terracotta Warriors, then return to the city for the Big Wild Goose Pagoda area and the lively lanes of the Muslim Quarter.

Meet Giant Pandas and Explore Sichuan

Continue by high-speed train to Chengdu, slow down in People’s Park and Kuanzhai Alley, and experience the city’s teahouse culture. Visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding early in the day, continue to forested Mount Qingcheng, and later see the Leshan Giant Buddha from a sightseeing boat before travelling onward.

Experience Chongqing and the Dazu Rock Carvings

Discover Chongqing’s steep streets, layered river views and historic hillside neighbourhoods around Xiahaoli and Longmenhao. An included hotpot lunch introduces one of the city’s best-known flavours. A separate excursion visits the Baodingshan section of the UNESCO-listed Dazu Rock Carvings before the journey continues to Zhangjiajie.

Walk Among Zhangjiajie’s Sandstone Peaks

Spend a full day in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, using the Bailong Elevator to reach Yuanjiajie and continuing towards Tianzi Mountain for views across the sandstone peak forest. On the following day, ascend Tianmen Mountain by cableway and explore its high-altitude walkways and Tianmen Cave area, subject to weather and local operations.

Finish with Shanghai’s Historic Waterfront and Skyline

Fly from Zhangjiajie to Shanghai because the practical rail journey exceeds six hours. In Shanghai, compare the modern towers of Lujiazui with the historic architecture of the Bund, visit the Jade Buddha Temple and explore the Old City before your private departure transfer.

Enjoy a Customized Private Journey

This private ground package is available for two or four travellers. It includes thirteen nights in 4-star hotels, daily breakfast, the listed private transfers and sightseeing vehicles, high-speed trains, one domestic flight, attraction tickets and selected meals. Exact 4-star hotel and transport schedules are confirmed after booking and remain subject to availability. An English-speaking guide is not included unless added separately.

Honestly, I chose this route for Mutianyu, but it didn't feel built around a single attraction. The Great Wall gave the day a different rhythm. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the Great Wall.

Mateo O.🇨🇦 Canada★★★★☆2025-09

We had enough information to understand the Great Wall, but it never turned into a classroom. The balance felt natural. With 14 days to work with, the balance felt sensible.

Isabel Z.🇧🇪 Belgium★★★★★2026-02

A practical note: there is a lot of moving between places. Packing light made a bigger difference than any sightseeing tip I read beforehand. The time around the Terracotta Warriors was not the part I would cut.

Zoe E.🇦🇹 Austria★★★★★2025-07

In hindsight, the route made more sense once we were on it. Time at the Temple of Heaven set the pace, while the giant pandas gave us a reason to slow down.

Honestly, the guide knew when to explain and when to stop talking. Rare, and appreciated.
