Honestly, I had seen plenty of photos of Nanshan Buddhism Park & Tianya Haijiao Coastal Cultural Day. Being there was quieter and more absorbing than I expected, and I stopped checking my phone for a while.
The meeting instructions were clear and we knew what came next without being herded around. In Sanya, that saved a surprising amount of energy.
A practical note: the busiest place on the route was genuinely busy. Starting earlier would be my only change. With 8 hours to work with, the balance felt sensible.
In hindsight, not every minute was engineered into a “moment.” There was time for coffee, questions and simply watching Sanya go by.
In short, the guide knew when to explain and when to stop talking. Rare, and appreciated. For 8 hours around Sanya, the pace felt about right.
