Resumen
Hike into Yubeng, the road-less Tibetan village under Meili Snow Mountain. 3-day trek from Shangri-La via Feilai Temple and Xidang pass. English guide, guesthouse stay.
Sobre este tour
Yubeng is one of the last villages in China you can only reach on foot. Tucked under the 6,740 m sacred peak of Kawagebo (Meili Snow Mountain), it sits at 3,100 m in a glacier valley with no road in — the only way is a 3-to-4-hour uphill hike over a forested pass from Xidang. For Tibetans it's a pilgrimage site; for trekkers it's the most rewarding two-night walk in Yunnan.
This private 3-day trip pairs you with an English-speaking guide and a driver from Shangri-La. You'll drive the high road along the Lancang (Mekong) gorge to Feilai Temple for the famous Meili sunrise, then continue to the Xidang trailhead and hike in over the pass to upper Yubeng. You sleep in a simple local guesthouse, eat with the family, and the next morning walk on toward the Sacred Waterfall or Ice Lake side valley before reversing the route. This is real walking — 4 to 6 hours a day at altitude — but the trail is clear and Tibetan horses are available to hire if your legs give out.

Who this is for: Reasonably fit hikers age 14+, photographers, travelers who want one real Tibetan-village experience without joining a 12-day expedition. Not suitable for anyone with heart conditions, severe asthma, or who has never hiked at altitude.
Logistics: Altitude maxes at 3,700 m on the pass. Pack layers, sun cream, headlamp, and broken-in boots. Horses to ride up the pass are bookable on the spot (cash, ~USD 35). Guesthouses are basic — clean beds, hot water often, Wi-Fi sometimes. We provide an English-speaking guide who walks with you the entire route.
