Sobre este tour
Wake up inside the largest Miao village on earth. Xijiang Qianhu Miao Zhai literally means "thousand-household Miao village," and the name still undersells it. More than a thousand traditional wooden stilt houses — diaojiaolou — climb up two steep facing mountainsides above a small river, each generation's roofline stacked on the last. At night the whole basin lights up like a hillside of yellow lanterns. The Miao people have lived this way for centuries; the village is the cultural capital of the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, and this overnight private tour is the only way to actually see it after the day-trippers from Guiyang have gone home.
You'll travel out of Kaili (or Guiyang, with a longer transfer) through karst hills and terraced rice paddies into the heart of southeast Guizhou. Your English-speaking guide explains the Miao migration story, the meaning of the silver headdresses and embroidered jackets, and what is actually happening during the lusheng reed-pipe dances staged each afternoon. You stay one night in a family-run wooden stilt-house guesthouse inside the village so you can walk the lanes after the tour buses leave.

- 18:30 — Stay overnight inside the village; evening to wander the lantern-lit lanes on your own
Day 2 — Sunrise and return:

- 09:00 — Miao breakfast at the guesthouse (rice noodles, pickled greens)
