Resumen
Climb to the twin temple spires of Mt Fanjing, UNESCO World Heritage since 2018. Private 2-day tour from Tongren: cable car, summit stairs, overnight at the mountain base.
Sobre este tour
The strangest summit in China. Mt Fanjing — Fanjingshan in Mandarin — rises out of the subtropical forests of eastern Guizhou as a single 2,572-metre granite pinnacle, split at the top into two stone spires. On the higher spire, the Red Cloud Golden Summit, a pair of tiny Buddhist temples sit on either side of a narrow crack in the rock, linked by a slim arched bridge. Pilgrims have climbed this mountain for over 500 years. UNESCO listed it as World Natural Heritage in 2018 for both the geological drama and the endemic species — including the Guizhou snub-nosed monkey, found nowhere else on earth.
This private two-day tour starts in Tongren, the gateway city served by direct flights from Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing, and gives you a full day on the mountain itself with time to climb at your own pace. Fanjingshan can be cloud-shrouded — many visitors who attempt it as a single rushed day trip see nothing but mist. Staying overnight at the mountain base means you can start at first light, when the clouds are most likely to part.
Day 1 — Tongren to Fanjingshan base:
- 10:00 — Pickup from your Tongren hotel or airport
- 12:00 — Arrive Jiangkou; local Guizhou lunch (sour-soup hotpot, wild-mountain greens)
- 14:00 — Visit a Tujia minority village and a Ming-era stone temple near the mountain
- 16:00 — Check in to a guesthouse at the Fanjingshan base; brief on tomorrow's climb
- 18:30 — Dinner at the guesthouse; early night before the climb
Day 2 — Summit day:
- 06:30 — Early breakfast; transfer to the scenic-area entrance
- 07:30 — Park shuttle to the cable-car station; cable car up the mountain (~25 min)

- 10:00 — Climb the steep iron-chain stairway up the Red Cloud Golden Summit to the twin temples (queues possible; weather dependent)
- 12:30 — Descend; lunch at a mountain-base restaurant
- 14:30 — Depart Fanjingshan
- 16:30 — Drop-off at your Tongren hotel, airport, or train station
Who this is for: Hikers and pilgrims with reasonable fitness, photographers chasing the twin-temples-above-the-clouds shot, travelers who want a serious UNESCO natural site away from the standard tourist circuit. The summit stairway is steep and exposed; not suitable for anyone with heart conditions, severe vertigo, or under 10 years old.
Logistics: Private air-conditioned vehicle. Licensed English-speaking guide. One night in a clean mid-range guesthouse at the mountain base. Entrance ticket, scenic-area shuttle, and cable car included. Two breakfasts, two lunches, one dinner. Weather can close the summit cable car or the chain stairway with short notice — we'll adjust the schedule if needed.
Local Roads. Global Eyes. We're a Beijing-licensed inbound operator covering the full Qiandongnan and Tongren region with English-speaking guides. Questions before you book? WhatsApp +86 139 1764 3020 or [email protected].
