I went in most excited about the Li River. Funny enough, the Yangshuo countryside is the part I kept talking about afterward. For 9 hours around Guilin, the pace felt about right.
What helped was simple: there was no theatrical “VIP” treatment, just useful organisation and a guide who noticed when we needed a pause. That suited us. I would keep the Guilin outline as it was.
Looking back, the schedule is fairly full. I would have liked another twenty minutes at the river cruise, but I would not drop any of the main stops. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the Li River.
