Looking back, by dinner we were still comparing notes about Wuzhizhou Island Coral Reef & Marine Park Day. That is usually how I judge whether a tour was worth doing.
The unglamorous part: the private format mattered most between the main stops. No waiting for a coach to refill and no counting thirty people before moving on. I would rather keep the pause at Wuzhizhou Island Coral Reef & Marine Park Day than add another stop.
One thing I learned: traffic added time to the day, so comfortable shoes and a little patience helped. The visit itself did not feel shortened. For 8 hours around Sanya, the pace felt about right.

I would change my shoes, not the itinerary. For this itinerary, the number of stops was enough.
