One detail from the day: the title makes this sound like a lot of ground to cover. In practice, the Bund and Shanghai felt like two distinct parts of the trip, not the same day repeated.
This worked for us because we didn't have to solve transport between Shanghai and the Bund. We could pay attention to the places, not the logistics.
A practical note: the busiest place on the route was genuinely busy. Starting earlier would be my only change. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the Bund.
In hindsight, not every minute was engineered into a “moment.” There was time for coffee, questions and simply watching Shanghai go by. For 4 hours around Shanghai, the pace felt about right.
In short, I booked mainly for the Bund. I was glad I did because of Shanghai.
