Honestly, I chose this route for the Zhangjiajie peaks, but it didn't feel built around a single attraction. Zhangjiajie gave the day a different rhythm.
This worked for us because we didn't have to solve transport between Zhangjiajie and the Zhangjiajie peaks. We could pay attention to the places, not the logistics. I would still leave extra time for the Zhangjiajie peaks.
A practical note: the busiest place on the route was genuinely busy. Starting earlier would be my only change. I would keep the Zhangjiajie outline as it was.
In hindsight, I liked this more a day later, when I looked back through my photos and realised how different Zhangjiajie and the Zhangjiajie peaks had felt.
Honestly, I booked mainly for the Zhangjiajie peaks. I was glad I did because of Zhangjiajie.
