Traveler Reviews
In hindsight, I expected Xi'an's city wall to be the headline, and it was. What I didn't expect was how much context from the guide changed what I noticed there.
Practically speaking, communication beforehand was straightforward. On the day, the plan was explained once and then everything simply felt easy to follow. For 1 hour and 30 minutes around Datong, the pace felt about right.
I underestimated how much standing the day involved. A short sit-down between stops made the second half much easier. My only advice is not to shorten the time at Xi'an's city wall.
Honestly, I had a long list of things I thought I needed to see. After Datong, I was happier slowing down and noticing fewer things properly. I would rather keep the pause at Xi'an's city wall than add another stop.
In short, I came with questions, left with more questions, and mean that as a compliment. With 1 hour and 30 minutes to work with, the balance felt sensible.
