About This Tour
This private three-day tour pairs sea and mountain in coastal Zhejiang, an area still largely unknown to international travellers. You begin on Hepu Island in the East China Sea, with its rugged headlands, fishing harbours, sea views and breezy campsite atmosphere, ideal for sunsets, sea breeze and a taste of island life. The journey then moves inland to Shenxianju, literally 'the dwelling of the immortals,' one of the most spectacular scenic areas in eastern China, where sheer cliffs, plunging waterfalls and a vast network of glass and cliffside walkways let you walk among the clouds. Mist often pours through the canyons, and the towering rock faces and aerial bridges deliver constant, jaw-dropping views. Travelling with an English-speaking guide and private vehicle, you set an unhurried pace across both landscapes. Ideal for nature lovers and active travellers wanting a fresh, photogenic side of China beyond the famous classics. Best from spring to autumn. Day 1: Hepu Island | East China Sea Coast
Your English-speaking guide meets you and transfers to the coast, where you cross to Hepu Island in the East China Sea. The island offers a relaxed, wind-swept atmosphere of fishing harbours, rocky headlands and open sea views, a world away from China's big cities. You walk the shoreline, take in the sea breeze and find a good vantage for the sunset over the water; for those who enjoy it, there is an optional seaside camping ambience and time to simply unwind by the waves. Fresh seafood is the local highlight, though the island is small so it is worth bringing some snacks. In the evening you settle in for the night by the sea. Meals: self-arranged/AA (seafood recommended). Overnight: island guesthouse or coastal hotel.

Day 2: Shenxianju | Cliffs, Waterfalls & Sky Walkways
After breakfast you transfer inland to Shenxianju, the 'dwelling of the immortals,' and spend the day among some of eastern China's most dramatic scenery. You ride up into the scenic area and walk a network of cliffside and glass walkways that hug sheer rock faces hundreds of metres above the valley floor, with waterfalls cascading down the canyon walls and mist drifting between the peaks. Highlights include the towering main cliffs, the long suspended sky bridges and viewpoints where the whole canyon opens beneath your feet. Your guide helps you pace the loop to catch the best light and the most photogenic walkways while avoiding the busiest sections. In the late afternoon you descend and check into your hotel near the scenic area. Meals: self-arranged/AA. Overnight: hotel near Shenxianju.

Day 3: Shenxianju Sunrise Views | Departure
An optional early start lets you catch the morning light or a sea of cloud filling the Shenxianju canyon, when the cliffs and bridges seem to float above the mist - the most magical time of day here. After breakfast you finish any remaining sections of the walkway loop or enjoy a final viewpoint, taking in the scale of the gorge one last time. With photos and memories in hand, you transfer back toward the departure city by early to mid afternoon, where the tour ends and you connect to your onward train or flight. Meals: self-arranged/AA. Transfer back included.
