About This Tour
Wenhai is a seasonal alpine lake at 3,100m altitude on the western slope of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain — full in summer-autumn, dry and grassland in winter-spring. Morning departure from Lijiang for a 90-minute drive to the trailhead at Wenhai village. 4-5 hour gentle round-trip trek (12km, 300m elevation gain) along Naxi shepherd paths through wildflower meadows, larch forests, and yak grazing pastures. Lunch is provided at a Naxi family eco-lodge — fire-pot stew, sour-spicy fish, and home-brewed barley wine. Less than 50 visitors per day, no tour buses. Best in May-June (rhododendrons) and September-October (clear views).
