In hindsight, I expected the giant pandas to be the headline, and it was. What I didn't expect was how much context from the guide changed what I noticed there.
Practically speaking, I liked that the day had structure without feeling scripted. Questions were answered properly, and there was also time to look around in silence. With 4 hours to work with, the balance felt sensible.
Bring water and do not over-plan the evening afterward. 4 hours covered more ground than I expected.
Honestly, I had a long list of things I thought I needed to see. After Chengdu, I was happier slowing down and noticing fewer things properly.
Honestly, I came with questions, left with more questions, and mean that as a compliment.
