In hindsight, I expected the river cruise to be the headline, and it was. What I didn't expect was how much context from the guide changed what I noticed there.

Practically speaking, the route through Qufu and Nanjing could be awkward to arrange independently. Having one person keep the timing straight made the whole thing calmer.

I underestimated how much standing the day involved. A short sit-down between stops made the second half much easier. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the river cruise.

Honestly, this wasn't a “see everything” tour, and that was a strength. The time around Qufu and Nanjing felt specific to Qufu and Nanjing, not interchangeable with another city.
