For us, there are plenty of polished photos online; the useful surprise was having time at the hutong lanes without being moved along every five minutes.
Practically speaking, I liked that the day had structure without feeling scripted. Questions were answered properly, and there was also time to look around in silence. The time around the hutong lanes was not the part I would cut.
I underestimated how much standing the day involved. A short sit-down between stops made the second half much easier. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the hutong lanes.
Honestly, I tend to switch off when tours become a stream of dates. Here, the stories around Beijing gave me enough to hold on to without overloading the day.
