The stop I expected to like least turned into the one we discussed afterward. That is the advantage of tasting with someone who can explain what is in front of you. The time around Tea Hills & Pingsha Island Day was not the part I would cut.
What helped was simple: the Guangzhou meeting point was simple to find, and the food stops came at a sensible pace. There was time to ask what we were eating rather than just moving to the next plate. I would keep the Guangzhou outline as it was.
Small tip: do not eat a large breakfast before the Guangzhou tour. The portions at individual stops look modest, then suddenly you realise you have been tasting things for hours. For 11 hours around Guangzhou, the pace felt about right.
Looking back, I had a long list of things I thought I needed to see. After Guangzhou, I was happier slowing down and noticing fewer things properly. I would rather keep the pause at Tea Hills & Pingsha Island Day than add another stop.
Honestly, worth doing for Tea Hills & Pingsha Island Day; worth remembering for the small stops in between.
