In hindsight, I booked with two dishes in mind and left with a longer list. Dongpan Mountain Windmill Meadow Day gave the route a clear sense of place rather than feeling like random snacks.
Practically speaking, the Shanghai and Ningbo meeting point was simple to find, and the food stops came at a sensible pace. There was time to ask what we were eating rather than just moving to the next plate.
The useful part in Shanghai and Ningbo was not just trying food, but knowing what to order again later. I saved two dish names in my phone before the tour ended.
Honestly, this wasn't a “see everything” tour, and that was a strength. The time around Shanghai and Ningbo felt specific to Shanghai and Ningbo, not interchangeable with another city.
I came with questions, left with more questions, and mean that as a compliment. The time around Dongpan Mountain Windmill Meadow Day was not the part I would cut.
