The food came quickly, but the tour did not. We had time to ask where each dish came from and how people in Wuhan usually order it.
What helped was simple: the Wuhan stops were organised, but the food did not arrive like a rehearsed tasting menu. Each place kept its own character.
Small tip: do not eat a large breakfast before the Wuhan tour. The portions at individual stops look modest, then suddenly you realise you have been tasting things for hours.
Looking back, this felt like travelling with someone who knew the area, not following a person holding a flag. That difference showed most at Wuhan.
