One detail from the day: the title makes this sound like a lot of ground to cover. In practice, UNESCO Hakka Tulou & Emigrant Heritage and Xiamen felt like two distinct parts of the trip, not the same day repeated.
The meeting instructions were clear and we knew what came next without being herded around. In Xiamen, that saved a surprising amount of energy. The time around UNESCO Hakka Tulou & Emigrant Heritage was not the part I would cut.
A practical note: a private pace was the right choice for our family. We could stop for a snack without feeling that we were delaying a busload of strangers. For 8 hours around Xiamen, the pace felt about right.
In hindsight, the route made more sense once we were on it. Time at Xiamen set the pace, while UNESCO Hakka Tulou & Emigrant Heritage gave us a reason to slow down.
In short, I booked mainly for UNESCO Hakka Tulou & Emigrant Heritage. I was glad I did because of Xiamen.
