2-Day Xijiang Thousand-Household Miao Village Tour from Kaili

Staying overnight in Xijiang, the world's largest Miao village, was magical. Over a thousand wooden stilt houses tumbling down the hillside, lit up at night like a galaxy. The silver-embroidered welcome ceremony and the lusheng pipe dancing were genuine, not staged. Sunrise from the hilltop over all those rooftops was the highlight.

Two days at Xijiang from Kaili immersed us in Miao culture. The welcome with rice wine and silver ornaments, the pipe dancing in the square, and waking for the hilltop sunrise over the stilt-house village were unforgettable. Our private guide translated and explained the traditions throughout.

The scale of Xijiang is breathtaking - over a thousand stilt houses cascading down a mountain. Sleeping in the village rather than rushing in for the day made all the difference. The lusheng dancing, the silver-embroidered ceremony, the sunrise viewpoint - two days of pure Guizhou culture. Loved it.
