3-Day Badain Jaran Desert Lakes 4x4 Adventure from Alxa

Three days of 4x4 across the Badain Jaran desert from Alxa was pure adrenaline and beauty. Charging up and down the world's tallest stationary dunes, some pushing 500m, was unreal, and then cresting one to find a freshwater lake glittering between them was magical. Camping out there under a sky thick with stars was the highlight of my entire China trip.

The Badain Jaran is a hidden wonder. Over three days our 4x4 expedition from Alxa Left Banner crossed colossal dunes and passed dozens of the hidden lakes, more than a hundred of them out there. The contrast of turquoise water against golden sand is surreal. Our driver clearly knew the desert intimately. Unforgettable adventure.
