3-Day Yubeng Village Trek from Shangri-La with Local Guide

Trekking into Yubeng, a village with no road, under the towering Meili Snow Mountain was the most rewarding hike of my life. Starting from Shangri-La via Feilai Temple, then over the Xidang pass on foot, the payoff of arriving in that hidden Tibetan valley is huge. Our local guide knew every turn.

The sunrise on Meili Snow Mountain from Feilai Temple before the trek even started was jaw-dropping. The three-day hike to road-less Yubeng is tough on the Xidang pass but the guesthouse stay in the village and the Tibetan hospitality made it unforgettable.

Yubeng is the real deal, no cars, just trails, prayer flags and glaciers. The climb from Xidang is a proper workout at altitude but doable with the local guide setting a steady pace. Three days felt earned. The village guesthouse food was simple and delicious.
