4 Day Shanghai Hangzhou and Nanxun Water Town Culture Tour

Four days that flowed beautifully from city to lake to canal town. Shanghai's Bund and skyline, then the calm of Hangzhou's West Lake, and Nanxun was the surprise highlight, a water town without the tourist crush of the more famous ones. The private guide made the train and car logistics invisible.

Hangzhou's West Lake at dawn before the crowds, arranged by our guide, was magical. Nanxun's old riverside mansions and stone bridges felt like stepping back a century. A great cultural arc across three very different places in four days.

Lovely tour. Shanghai and Hangzhou were as expected (in a good way), and Nanxun water town was peaceful and authentic. July was hot and humid so pace it. Guide was patient and knowledgeable about the silk and canal history of the region.

Private and fully customizable, which we took advantage of, swapping a Shanghai museum for more time at West Lake. Nanxun was the cultural heart of the trip for us. Four days was enough to feel each city without it being a checklist sprint.

The contrast is what makes this work: ultra-modern Shanghai, classic Hangzhou tea-and-lake culture, and timeless Nanxun canals. Our guide arranged a boat ride through Nanxun at dusk that the whole family still talks about.
