My camera roll says the Li River was the big moment. My actual favourite was the Yangshuo countryside; it felt less obvious and more personal. The time around the Li River was not the part I would cut.
What helped was simple: there was no theatrical “VIP” treatment, just useful organisation and a guide who noticed when we needed a pause. That suited us. I would still leave extra time for the Yangshuo countryside.
Looking back, the schedule is fairly full. I would have liked another twenty minutes at the river cruise, but I would not drop any of the main stops.
Looking back, I tend to switch off when tours become a stream of dates. Here, the stories around the Li River gave me enough to hold on to without overloading the day.
In short, worth doing for the Yangshuo countryside; worth remembering for the small stops in between.
