I went in most excited about the Zhangjiajie peaks. Funny enough, Zhangjiajie is the part I kept talking about afterward.
What helped was simple: there was no theatrical “VIP” treatment, just useful organisation and a guide who noticed when we needed a pause. That suited us. I would keep the Zhangjiajie outline as it was.
Looking back, I carried more than I needed. Water, a light layer and a small power bank would have covered the whole day. I would rather keep the pause at the Zhangjiajie peaks than add another stop.
Looking back, I tend to switch off when tours become a stream of dates. Here, the stories around Zhangjiajie gave me enough to hold on to without overloading the day.
