Morning: Nanshan Buddhism Cultural Park, where the 108-meter-tall Guanyin Bodhisattva of the South Sea rises out of the sea — one of the world's tallest statues. Walk the temple courtyards, ring the prayer bells, and enjoy a vegetarian buffet lunch at the temple's monastery dining hall. Afternoon: drive to Tianya Haijiao ('Edge of the Sky, Corner of the Sea'), where massive inscribed boulders mark what ancient Chinese travelers called the southern edge of the empire. Walk the coast, take photos with the iconic boulders, and return to your hotel.
