For us, what stayed with me wasn't the booking or the car. It was the time at Pingyao old town, when we could slow down and actually look around.

Practically speaking, communication beforehand was straightforward. On the day, the plan was explained once and then everything simply felt easy to follow. I would rather keep the pause at Pingyao old town than add another stop.

I underestimated how much standing the day involved. A short sit-down between stops made the second half much easier. My only advice is not to shorten the time at Pingyao old town.

Honestly, this wasn't a “see everything” tour, and that was a strength. The time around Pingyao felt specific to Pingyao, not interchangeable with another city.
