Looking back, by dinner we were still comparing notes about the river cruise. That is usually how I judge whether a tour was worth doing.
The unglamorous part: the practical side was solid: an easy pickup, sensible timing between stops, and no long sales detour disguised as sightseeing. For 4 hours around Chongqing, the pace felt about right.
One thing I learned: lunch landed later than I expected, so a small snack was useful. I was happier not cutting the time at the river cruise.
Not every minute was engineered into a “moment.” There was time for coffee, questions and simply watching Chongqing go by.
I would change my shoes, not the itinerary. I would still leave extra time for the river cruise.
