大多数大同之旅都会带你去云冈或空中寺。这个位于大同本身重建的明朝城墙内。华严寺——辽晋王朝（10-13世纪）佛教建筑群，有马哈维拉厅（中国最大的单层木结构建筑之一）和31座被视为国宝的辽代佛教雕像。九龙屏——中国现存的三个龙屏中最大的一个（长 45 米，比北京的紫禁城版本还大），由洪武皇帝的次子建造。短途旅游，是清晨游览云冈之后的完美选择，也适合在老城区逗留的旅行者。步行距离约为 2 千米。
