In hindsight, I booked with two dishes in mind and left with a longer list. Gulangyu Island Longtou Road Tasting Walk gave the route a clear sense of place rather than feeling like random snacks.
Practically speaking, the Xiamen meeting point was simple to find, and the food stops came at a sensible pace. There was time to ask what we were eating rather than just moving to the next plate.
The useful part in Xiamen was not just trying food, but knowing what to order again later. I saved two dish names in my phone before the tour ended.
