One detail from the day: this was less about eating a huge meal than paying attention to several small ones. That rhythm worked for 3 hours. For 3 hours around Suzhou, the pace felt about right.
Dietary questions in Suzhou were handled before we started, not halfway through the first tasting. That made the session much easier to enjoy.
A practical note: one Suzhou dish was outside my comfort zone, which was half the reason I booked. Asking how locals eat it made the stop much more interesting. For this itinerary, the number of stops was enough.
