Honestly, I chose this route for the Zhangjiajie peaks, but it didn't feel built around a single attraction. Tianmen Mountain gave the day a different rhythm.
This worked for us because we didn't have to solve transport between Tianmen Mountain and the glass walkway. We could pay attention to the places, not the logistics. With 8 hours to work with, the balance felt sensible.
A practical note: the busiest place on the route was genuinely busy. Starting earlier would be my only change. I would still leave extra time for the glass walkway.
In hindsight, the route made more sense once we were on it. Time at the Zhangjiajie peaks set the pace, while Tianmen Mountain gave us a reason to slow down.
In short, the guide knew when to explain and when to stop talking. Rare, and appreciated. The time around Tianmen Mountain was not the part I would cut.
