3-Day Xiamen and Tulou Relaxation Tour

Three relaxed days in Xiamen were exactly what we needed after a hectic week. Gulangyu Island with its old colonial villas and car-free lanes is gorgeous, and the seafood dinners our guide picked were the best meals of our trip. The Hakka tulou day trip was a bonus.

The Hakka roundhouses were the standout for me. Seeing those enormous communal earthen buildings in person, and having a private guide explain how the families lived in them, made it come alive. Xiamen itself is laid back and Gulangyu is lovely. Great pacing.

As a foodie this tour delivered. The seafood in Xiamen is incredible and the guide knew all the right spots, not tourist traps. The tulou were fascinating and Gulangyu felt like stepping back in time. Relaxed three days, never felt rushed.

Really enjoyed Gulangyu and the tulou roundhouses. The drive out to the Hakka buildings is a couple of hours each way so day two is a long one, just know that going in. Seafood was excellent. Our guide was friendly and flexible with timing.

Lovely slow-paced trip. Wandering Gulangyu's piano-museum and old streets, then the dramatic Hakka tulou the next day, was a nice mix of city and countryside. The private guide adjusted everything around our toddler's nap times which we hugely appreciated.
