I expected the long road days to be the tiring part. Watching the landscape change on the way to Everest Base Camp is what I remember most.
What helped was simple: road conditions set the rhythm more than a printed timetable. The guide explained changes early, so a slower section never felt like lost time. I would still leave extra time for Everest Base Camp.
Looking back, long stretches on the road are part of this trip, not dead time between attractions. Bring a good playlist and keep a layer handy for the higher stops. I would rather keep the pause at Everest Base Camp than add another stop.
Looking back, I tend to switch off when tours become a stream of dates. Here, the stories around Lhasa gave me enough to hold on to without overloading the day.
