Honestly, I had seen plenty of photos of the giant pandas. Being there was quieter and more absorbing than I expected, and I stopped checking my phone for a while. I would keep the Chengdu outline as it was.
The meeting instructions were clear and we knew what came next without being herded around. In Chengdu, that saved a surprising amount of energy. For 6 hours around Chengdu, the pace felt about right.
A practical note: there was more walking than I guessed from the title. Nothing difficult, just enough that I was glad I wore trainers. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the Leshan Giant Buddha.
In hindsight, we booked because arranging Chengdu ourselves looked fiddly. We came away remembering the conversations as much as the places.
Honestly, the guide knew when to explain and when to stop talking. Rare, and appreciated. The time around the giant pandas was not the part I would cut.
