For us, there was enough explanation to follow the recipe, but not so much that the cooking lost its rhythm. The cooking session in Lijiang felt hands-on from the start.
Practically speaking, the route through Lijiang could be awkward to arrange independently. Having one person keep the timing straight made the whole thing calmer. With 3 hours and 30 minutes to work with, the balance felt sensible.
Bring water and do not over-plan the evening afterward. 3 hours and 30 minutes covered more ground than I expected.
Honestly, I had a long list of things I thought I needed to see. After Lijiang, I was happier slowing down and noticing fewer things properly. I would keep the Lijiang outline as it was.
