3-Day Jiuzhaigou Valley Private Tour from Chengdu

The lakes really are that colour. Jiuzhaigou Valley sits in northern Sichuan on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau, a Y-shaped string of more than a hundred calcium-rich pools, terraced waterfalls and old-growth larch forests that turn turquoise, jade and copper depending on the light. UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage site in 1992. After the 2017 earthquake the valley was carefully restored and reopened, and most travellers agree it has lost none of its magic — if anything the lighter daily visitor cap makes it calmer than the pre-quake years.

This is a private 3-day tour from Chengdu with a licensed English-speaking guide. You'll cover the long mountain drive in on Day 1 (~9–10 hours via expressway and Tibetan grassland villages), spend a full day inside the park on Day 2 walking the wooden boardwalks between the most famous lakes, and drive back on Day 3 with a couple of photo stops. Altitude inside the valley sits around 2,000–3,100 m — much gentler than Yading, but worth a slow morning to acclimatise.

Day-by-day:

• Day 1 — 07:00 pickup in Chengdu, drive north via Wenchuan and the Min River valley; lunch stop in a Qiang or Tibetan village; arrive Jiuzhaigou gateway town by evening; early dinner and rest
• Day 2 — Full day inside Jiuzhaigou National Park: enter at opening, use the shuttle bus to reach the upper Rize and Zechawa valleys, then walk the boardwalks between Five-Flower Lake, Panda Lake, Pearl Shoal Waterfall and Long Lake; return to your hotel by late afternoon
• Day 3 — Optional morning visit to a nearby Tibetan village or a relaxed breakfast; long scenic drive back to Chengdu; arrive by evening (we can drop at airport for a late flight)
